if you know me, you know this girl doesn’t do anything before coffee. i’m totally that person that spends the $4-$5 dollars a day at my local coffee shop and i’m not ashamed (maybe a little, but i’ve come to terms with it).
now that i’m out in the middle of nowhere gilbert, my options are starbucks (no thanks) or driving out of my way to pay for a coffee from somewhere that isn’t my favorite coffee shop. so i decided i would forgo the purchasing of my coffee and simply purchase an at home machine.
i had a keurig in the past and hated it. it was watery and no matter the coffee i got it was just overall bad. from that i contemplated what i did like and why the keurig didn’t do it for me. i realized i needed espresso so i decided this time ’round i needed something that would give me espresso *enter nespresso machine*
I got my nespresso from best buy but I price matched it with a target machine so you can find that here. before purchasing this machine i did some research on the overall brand and what people thought of the coffee against normal machines or the keurig. most people seemed extremely loyal to their nespresso machine and i decided I would give it a go.
i got the cheapest machine they offer simply because #college #broke but also because essentially they all brew the same cup of coffee. mine happened to come with a milk frother (which a lot seemed to) so that was a nice bonus, but i’m not a foam fan so it probably won’t get much use.
as for the actual machine i think it’s really neat. it has a water reservoir so you only have to fill it up every 2-3 cups. it also has two size options so you can have a straight espresso shot or one closer to an americano (i think it’s meant to be a double shot, but it just tastes more watery). it also has a compartment where the old pods fall once they are used so you don’t have to dig out the pods after each use. all of these get a big thumbs ups from me!
as for the coffee i think it is great and exactly what i was looking for! a sampler pack came with my machine so i’ve been working my way through that to find what i like the best but i went ahead and ran up to the nespresso store in scottsdale to sample and purchase some extra pods. i got the intenso iced blend and the roma blend.
i always have my coffee iced so i tend to brew the pod (with a little sugar in the bottom if i’m craving sweet) and pour that over ice. the secret weapon to great at home coffee is creamer and i love the silk soy coffee creamer!
overall i am really happy with my nespresso machine! (and so is katelyn who benefits from it as well!) i don’t think i can say that i will never go buy coffee again, but it is exactly what i wanted now that i am far away.
whats your favorite coffee?
